Meet Ilan
Founder & Aerial Silks Instructor
Ilan is the founder of Aerials Amsterdam and the heart behind everything we do. Originally from Chile, he's a circus artist, performer, and anthropologist whose passion for aerial arts brought him to Amsterdam, and eventually to creating this community.
In 2014, Ilan reached the finals of Holland's Got Talent with his aerial silks duo act, wowing judges and audiences with his skill, artistry, and the connection he brings to performance. What started as a weekly workshop in 2013 has since grown into Aerials Amsterdam - a welcoming space for anyone who wants to experience the joy of moving through the air.
Beyond his work as a performer, Ilan is also a researcher who studied circus culture and families in Chile, bringing a deep appreciation for circus as both an art form and a way of life. His teaching combines technical precision with warmth and encouragement, helping students of all levels discover what their bodies are capable of.
When you train at Aerials Amsterdam, you're not just learning from an instructor, you're learning from someone who has dedicated his life to circus arts and built a community around sharing that love with others.
...and if you're lucky, you might also meet Paco, the studio's unofficial mascot, who occasionally stops by to offer moral support from the mat. 🐾
